I liked pretty much everything about my last several Southwest flights, with the significant exception of their boarding system. So this is interesting: "Southwest to Test Assigned Seating".

Ack! Although I only travel about 100 days a year now, I have in the past been on the road as many as 300 days a year - and I try to fly Southwest whenever possible.
Why? Lots of reasons that I generally call "the McDonald's factor" (i.e., consistency of experience. But I have to say: the *lack* of assigned seating is something I love. Squawking baby? You can move. Drunken co-passenger? You can move. Burning desire to sit in an exit row or a bulkhead seat? You can nail it many times just by being one of the first people in line. And on top of everything else, the boarding process just goes faster without assigned seating.
