Ruth Sheehan does a difficult thing and does it well: she admits she was completely wrong about the Duke lacrosse case.
Would that we had more journalists who could publicly admit when they were wrong.

If newspaper reporters were to forced to write "I am sorry" columns every time they got it wrong, there would be more "I am sorry" columns than ads.

I read this yesterday, I think, but more exposure can't be a bad thing. While I wish she had gotten it right originally, I am glad that she is a big enough person to apologize in the same forum. When this story first broke, I was willing to believe it (and said so on this blog, I think) due to my own history of interaction with college male team sports. However, I am also a real proponent of "innocent until proven guilty" and actual CIVIL RIGHTS for everyone. Thus, I didn't make the mistakes (if that's what you can call some of the more deliberate actions) of others. Something to keep in mind.
Oh, and I'm getting tired of them being called 'rich white kids' with no supporting material for the 'rich' part. It's not like they're Rockfellers or Gettys or even Kennedys.
