More from the you-can't-make-this-stuff-up department. Richard Parsons, CEO of Time Warner, compares Google to General Custer and Time Warner to the Sioux.
How stupid is that? Let Michael Malone tell you:
But more than that, as others have noted elsewhere, it was the Sioux who lost the war. Comparing yourself to Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse at Little Big Horn may sound noble and heroic, but the final tally was that the Sioux were driven onto reservations, Crazy Horse was murdered and Sitting Bull ended up a novelty act in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show (and then murdered).
Is this really the analogy he wanted to make?

The problems with this analogy go even deeper than the obvious "they won the battle but lost the war."
The Sioux victory at Little Big Horn was not due only to Custer's bad judgment, but also to intelligent and visionary leadership on the part of Crazy Horse, Gall, and Sitting Bull.
The use of this analogy might prompt people to ask where the equivalent leaders are in the old-media industry.
