Counterproductive experience

A long-time reader of the Door, Kevin T., points me to an NBER paper on mentoring of teachers. The paper finds mixed results on the effects of mentors and also finds this: "having a mentor with more Department of Education experience was negatively related to student achievement in both [math and reading] subjects."
